Well, 2020 has proven to be off to a great start for the CVFC. We have brought new members in, some of our current members have changed positions (some have promoted and some have decided to take a much needed break) and the call volume is definitely keeping everyone on our toes !! We have some great fundraisers this year with some community outreach and recruitment and retention plans underway. It's that time of year again !! Fall is fast approaching and we are hosting our Sportsman Bingo. Doors open at 5:30 and games start at 7:00. There will be a total of 20 games. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. EVERYONE entering for Bingo must have a ticket INCLUDING CHILDREN. It's that time of year again folks !! This year marks our 30th Anniversary for the Fawn Grove Olde Tyme Days. This years theme is going to be Pennsylvania and Maryland Manufactured Farm Equipment. Gearing up for spring, there are several events coming to the firehouse. On March 30th from 8:00am-1:30pm we are having our Yard Sale and Soup/Sandwich sale. For Yard Sale spaces, please contact Jane Nelson @ (717)-382-4073. Advanced ordering for soups and sandwiches is recommended.
On Sun. Dec. 23rd 2018 the big man himself will be stopping by the firehouse to take his annual ride around the township and then into the borough. Santa will be starting his journey at 1:00 and ending up in the square at approx. 3:30. Please keep an eye AND an ear for him and stay tuned to your local new paper for specific times and locations !!
As the CVFC wraps up yet another successful year, we have had our elections for the 2019 year. There were no changes with the exception of adding a second fire lieutenant which Fire Sergeant Wayne Hostetter proudly won and the Fire Police Capt. is Norm Browne this coming year with previous year F.P. 13 years ago yesterday 03/13/2005, the CVFC was alerted for a structure fire high risk at 0356 am at the Fawn United Methodist Church. At 0358, Asst. Fire Chief Scott Dickson requested the 2nd alarm assignment, seeing the glow while enroute to the station. Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the fire under freezing temperatures and battling winds.
The CVFC would like to welcome home Army Specialist Kyle Sizemore. Kyle joined the department in 2010. Kyle is both a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician. Thanks for serving our country !!
On the evening of Friday January 26th 2018, the members of the CVFC were proud to put in service the "New" Engine 56-2. Engine 56-2 is a 2001 Pierce Quantum. It has a 2,000 gpm 2 stage fire pump and holds 1,000 gallons of water. It has seating for 6 and will soon be certified in York Co. as a Rescue Truck.
